Trans-Balkan Electricity Corridor

Overview

The Trans-Balkan Electricity Corridor is a flagship project allowing the interconnection of the electricity transmission systems of Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina to those of Croatia, Hungary, Romania and Italy. 

The construction of 84 km of double circuit 400 kV electricity line has been finished in 2022. A new section connecting Montenegro and BiH is being prepared.

Milestones

  • Section 3 (Obrenovac - Bajina Basta): Additional KfW loan: planned signing of loan agreement planned towards the end of Q1 2023
  • The construction works are expected to start in Q2 2024
  • Section 4 (Bajina Basta - BH/ME borders): The KfW loan agreement will be signed on 23 January. The tender documents are to be prepared this year
  • The construction works are expected to start in Q1/Q2 2025
